I have a Peak 1 with the fuel container separate. I have a friend with the fuel container under the burner. I opted for the detached model for a couple reasons. 1) You can not safely put fuel into the stove while it's hot. We can all be prepared, but sometimes filling the stove with fuel can be forgotton. 2) Pumping the stove with the burner going. You can (I did) burn a knuckle with the tank under the stove. The detached model avoids that from happening. Mine is about 5 years old and I haven't changed gaskets-yet. I carry an extra set to be on the safe side. You mentioned wind as a big factor. I haven't had any problems, however I haven't encountered driving rain, etc. while trying to light the thing. I do have a little wind screen that I don't ever recall having to use, however lah or Greg may have the right idea with the separate screen. I have a friend who carries a piece of tin about 12" x 18" that folds up and can "circle" the stove in the wind. Hope it helps.
