Re: Food Pack

Rodent proof CAN be important if the pack has a plastic exterior. I know this because one time I took a big plastic storage locker and used it for a food pack by strapping it to a pack frame. This worked well for about half the trip until a squirrel decided to knaw his way through it one day while we are out fishing (I NEVER hang food packs anymore, but that's another story). This rodent did an amazing amount of damage as he knawed a hole big enough to enter the pack and then he got into the pancake mix. How he still had room for pancake mix is beyond me, but apparently a few ounces of plastic wasn't enough to fill him up. I'm sure we had the last laugh on him as there's no way he could have passed the amount of plastic he ate. Nevertheless, I ended up being glad we had plenty of duct tape.
