Re: seeking moose

This may not be the answer you’re looking for, but before last year’s trip up the falls chain, we had an interesting drive up the gunflint trail. We saw 8 moose in different locations from Poplar to Sag. 3 were caves with their mothers. We basically stopped at every clearing to take photos of them. We theorized that maybe the moose in that area were experiencing a population increase due to the trees being blown down in 1999 or maybe we were just lucky.

Other places in Quetico, that consistently produce moose (based on our outfitter telling us that they’ve seen them there before and us seeing them) are the river between Burke Lake and North Bay, and the narrow channel going from North Bay to South Lake.

Good luck and paddle softly!!!
