I attempted that portage last Spring but the first and second mudholes were actually 3 feet of water through the woods. I did the first one and then turned around when I got to the second one. It was very high water last spring, so I think it is not normaly like this. The portage is sooner than you think as you go up the creek. If you are comming up the Darky River I would probably go from Minn Lake to the Maligne and then up to Tanner.
