Re: strike woes for Quetico

I spoke to someone at the reservations place. 1-888-668-7275. I haven't tried the recorded message 807-597-4602. I figure there's plenty of time for things to work out.

"Closed" is fine but what struck me most were the words "day use only" and "delay" comming from someone who seemed to know what I ment by "interior" and "honor pole."

As I understand it -
The strike by 45,000 provincial government employees began March 13. (The last OPSEU strike in 1996, lasted five weeks.) Wages are one of the key sticking points in the strike. The union wants a 15 per cent wage hike over three years, while the government has offered just under six per cent over that same time period. The Ontario government saves $7.6 million each day of the strike.

A court order requires OPSEU to ensure that people crossing a picket line are delayed for no more than 10 minutes.

I don't have much faith in the timeliness of the website but http://www.ontarioparks.com/ has some info.
