I've been watching the weather in the BWCA closely the past few weeks. Why? We are headed out this Sunday for a week of fishing into Knife and Kekekabec(maybe). I don't like bugs, which is why we prefer to go early, but it seems like a late spring to me. Am I wrong about that? Ice out early May is about average? The latest I've even been there for ice out was a day or two before the opening -mid-May. Still, either I'm getting older and am feeling the cold more, or this talk of global warming is hooey.
I am just hoping for a few days without rain this year. So far the weather planner is encouraging. But that was how it was last year, and we had a 6 day soaker to endure and enjoy. I see snow for this Friday. Maybe the bugs would be a reasonable trade to avoid the snow.
