Chief, I've hit some of your planned route on various trips. As far as fishing goes, if you're into Northerns, don't overlook your put-in area at Stanton Bay (approaching big Pickerel Lake). We've tied into a few really nice ones there. If you end up travelling in June, try fishing for lake trout in the Wetasi Island & Pine Portage Bay area. If your travels into Sturgeon take you close to Russell Lake, I recommend its southern rim for smallies. Also, the Chatterton Falls area is pretty & has several nice campsites. Other thoughts...the bug count is way up in June & July vs. August, so be prepared (on the other hand, my experience has been that the rodent count is somewhat less). Finally, there's a fairly nice island campsite on Dore Lake. Because of its elevation, Dore has some of the clearest water in all of Quetico. It's a pretty decent lake trout & smallmouth fishery, too. By the way, I'd be interested in hearing your experience on those "Racer's Portages" into Nym. Haven't tried those before. Have a good trip.
