Tried Spider wire and hated it, but I love fireline by Berkley. The fireline does get some nicks, and frays. I have lost a few lures because of this. I need to learn to cutoff and retie when the line looks frayed. You feel every little tug on the line because it doesn't stretch. I like it because you don't get any twisting in the line. That doesn't mean you still don't get some tangles. I just respoolled for my June 1st trip into Quetico. I had bought a spider wire rod, real, and line. I went out to test the equipment, and I justed hated it. I then returned it. The fireline has been very good for me. If you bring it, make sure you have another spool of mono!
