My groups have put in at Stanton Bay twice but we have always used a outfitter. The road is pretty rough but I didn't think that it was that bad, but we were in a van. The road would probably be hard on a car. I am not sure but I think that you have to use a outfitter unless you are a citizen of Ontario....but I am not sure so maybe someone else can help you with that. By the looks of it I am sure that the road can become really hard if not impassable at times. Not sure on the distance from French Lake.
