I have been an avid reader of Backpacker Magazine for over 10 years now. I have found the info helpful in selecting gear. I used the mags data to buy my tent. The U.S. Forrest Service has completed a study on the relationship between tent color and bear attraction. The study found that bears are more likely to be attracted to a bright tent. The reasearch showed that a bear will go out of his/her way (up to a few miles)to check out something that looks out of place or out of the ordinary in the environment.
