I'm no expert, but in my experience, walleye like Mepps spinners, sizes 3, or 4. Crankbaits are OK, too. You can't beat a jig for walleye, however. I haven't noticed a preference for color, but tipping with a leech will always help. If you can't get live bait in, Berkley power leecehs ore OK. Even twister tails will work. Walleye don't hit jigs very hard, so pay extra attention to the feel of your rod.

Of course, morning and evening are always better.

I was up last week and caught and released a 29.5 inch 'eye trolling with a Heddon Sonar.
