I took my kayak through Quetico for six days last year. I have an Old Town Loon 138. The large cockpit allowed me to put an internal frame pack under the front deck, a dry bag under the rear deck, and a deck bag up front. Also, Old Town makes a portage yoke for their kayaks that is very comfortable and works very well. Admittedly, the Loon 138 is not exactly a sleek touring boat. But it's perfect for wilderness trips like this when you need the extra volume. Plus it's stable enough to fish from. As for routes, I would stick to some of the larger lakes on the north end of the Park. Lakes like Pickerel, Quetico, Cirrus and even Sturgeon are perfect for kayaking.
