Re: Camp Stoves

I've used a propane ,( single burner), made by Coleman. I like it mostly because it's quite safe to use, and since it use compressed gas canisters, it's easy to haul several extra canisters without the threat of leakage, and spills as you would with a liquid type of fuel! if there is any gas leaking, you'll likely smell, and hear it at the nozzel of the canister. The only complaint I have is that it's valve/adjuster knob can be bumped into the on position rather easily. To avoid leaking all the fuel, I just unscrew the fuel can from the stove head , for storage and transport. Also, the valve has a light spring loaded feel to it, and it ratchets lightly during adjusting, and so it isn't finely tunable especially at the low end (simmer).
I understand that at sub-freezing, butane is useless, and below zero propane is noticeably less user friendly- but during most conditions, I've grown to like using propane!!
If there is a liquid fuel stove that's better than a propane stove, I'd like to hear more recommendations from the users!!!
thanks!!
