Re: Quetico River???

LeafAngel,

If you run the Quetico River out of the west end of Beaverhouse it'll eventually deposit you on the Namakan River. You'll have the current "with" you on the Quetico but "against" you on the Namakan. I doubt "current" would be much of a factor, either way. People who use this route must have the "Three Mile Lake" entry permit. An outfitter friend has tried to talk me into a circuit that eventually heads into the Badwater Lake region en route back to Beaverhouse. Walleye fishing is reportedly quite good. However, I've not yet tried it myself.

One downside to this entry point, as I understand it, is that motors are permitted in these waters along the Park periphery. Also, if you intended to try the Badwater circuit, another downside is that the water level on Bearpelt Creek can be a big problem. The plus side/payoff? Well, besides good walleye fishing, your food pack should be a mere shadow of its former self by the time you tackle that nasty portage from Badwater into West Bay of Quetico Lake....

Be sure to post your results here IF you ever do head in that direction. I'd be interested in how you make out.
