I have always planned my routes trying to connect big water.
It's all good. I like to try to find pictographs, they are usually
marked on the map. I rarely fish, have never fished on quetico
side of the border. Wilderness paddle travel is precise use of time.
Nothing wasted. I ran into a group once when I was going
into Sturgeon Lake. I had been out 10 days, and they asked
me how fishing was. They were incredulous that I was out
'just looking around'.
I'm going up in October, got a couple weeks set aside to
just wander.
