Re: Hey Basser...Grow Up

Stumpy - relax. I have no doubt Bo and yourself love the north country as much as I do. I just think when taking first timers north you need to be a little flexible to try to adjust to their comfortable travel pace. Based on Bo's partner saying he would never do another trip - well, I hate to hear that. I hope Bo is right and he reconsiders. There is so much more to the bush than how many miles you covered. If that's your bag that's great - I just wouldn't push it on a newcomer.
As far as your opinion on Basser - far off base there. I have never traveled in anything but an aluminum canoe (although I would like to try the lighter varieties now that I am approaching 50 and not in the shape I used to be.)
Still use the same old Duluth pack I bought 25 years ago and it works fine, even with the 10 inch rip resewn from where a bear took a swipe at it. First trip I ever took to Quetico was a solo (1975) - what a trip! I'm sure we'd have a good time if we met on a portage instead of a discussion forum. Keep Paddlin! Basser
