Mask and Snorkel

For both kids and adults on those July and August trips, a couple of sets of mask & snorkel are essential. Hours can be spent watching the bass, hunting for crayfish, etc. For some extra fun, if you have live bait with you, wrap some fishing line and a hook around a small boating keychain float and take it snorkeling with you. See if you can get the bass to bite by putting the bait directly in front of it. Great fun.

I carry just the mask for scouting for hooks in the swimming area. Also handy if something important ends up in the water close to shore - better chance of finding it
