There's a popular thing going around in photo circles a home made monopod which uses a piece of string which you hold in place by stepping on it. You pull the string which is connected to your camera's bottom via a short4" bolt. It helps to eliminate a lot of camera movement.

I plan on getting a4 x 20 stainless steel T-nut and embed it in the top of a paddle grip. By carrying a2" length of threaded rod I can connect camera to paddle for a rigid monopod. Right there at eye level where I need it.

Sorry folks for any confusion but apparently this text editor does not like fractions. I am referring to "quarter-twenty" hardware. One quarter inch diameter by 20 threads per inch. Real common hardware store items. All camera bases have a quarter twenty threaded socket on their base.
