Portage Description:
During periods of low water the island between the two falls is negotiable, and will reduce this portage significantly. Landing on the upstream side of the island is only large enough for one canoe, and requires quick reaction by the bow man to prevent the canoe from turning sideways into the falls. Landing on downstream side of island is large enough for several canoes. This option is safer moving upstream the Maligne River, and should only be attempted during periods of low water.
