I took a mental health day on Tuseday and took the canoe north of GR to spend a day fishing and putzing. I put in on Wabana Lake and paddled through the creek to Little Trout and Trout Lakes. It was a breath taking day with very little wind, highs about 75 and dazzling fall colors at or near peak. I didn't catch many fish, but had a great time. These lakes are incredibly clear, although the water had just turned over so you could only see bottom at about 13 feet instead of the normal 20+. I saw several deer close enough to shoot with my bow (if I hadn't left it in the car) and turtles, ducks, geese, etc. Altogether it was a fantastic day.
