and on the subject of magazines and changes - Holy Canoli Batman!

They actually have some Canoeing articles in this month's Canoe and Kayak magazine!  It's almost balanced, like it used to be.  Might even be worth renewing my subscription.    In the issues prior to the current one, about the only "canoe" in the mag was in the title, and one or two ads, and the 99% remainder was all Kayaking.  New owners and staff - maybe there's hope for this one too.

Imagine that, a canoe story in Canoe & Kayak! I know what you mean, I used to get C&K years ago. Then I decided that I wouldn't be kayaking off Baja or around Vancouver Island anytime soon, so I let it go. I'll have to pick up the new issue for my next flight and check it out.

Came across a new E-zine about paddling.  So far, its just Vol-1, Issue-1, but it has some potential.  I found it very humorous that much of the canoeing content was "borrowed" from paddling forums, and one of the rafting articles also appears in this month's C&K, and another "story" was a newspaper article.  Small world - I guess they can get around any copyright issues by sipmly providing links to other stories ?    The price is right (free).  Maybe some aspiring, perspiring, in (or un?) spiring budding journalists can submit some stories and make a few bucks?

This was started by some of the Paddler Magazine staff that quit the ACA publication for whatever, and decided to do thier own thing.  I suspect they just don't want to have to move from Steamboat Springs, and this is better than a real job.  I wouldn't mind seeing this succeed.

Anyway, here is a link which should take you to the Canoe Tripper's Self Rating Test article, "borrowed" from MYCCR, Inspired by P-Net ( I think McCrea actually writes for Paddler), and its funny enough that I thought you might like to read it.
