I was in Minot ND last week, and happened along a eloquent river flowing through town.  It reminded me of many ways of the Sioux River that flows through Sioux Falls SD, the town I live in.  I thought to myself "I'd like to know the name of this river before leaving town." as she revealed her charm in several areas of the city.  I came across a sign that read "Souris Valley"  I thought to myself "No way!"  I stopped at a gas station and asked about the River.  I asked a man "Is this the Souris River, the one the canoe is named after?"  The man looked at me like I had no sense. He said "I don't know nothing about some canoe, but this river is famous."  I said "How so?"  The man replied "It's the only river in North America that starts from the north in Canada, comes south into  the states (North Dakota),  then heads  east for a ways, then back north up into Canada".  We parted with me just a bit wiser and the man shaking his head.
