Got a C- on it, too... mainly because the ignorant old biddy was expecting a cute story about the exploits a large black dog, lost in the wilderness. In my version, the starving survivors of this adventure EAT the danged dog & use its fur to keep their ears warm. Not quite what she was expecting, I guess. Jimbo

I won't spoil it for you, but let's just say... things don't exactly go according to plan.

The book became a bestseller in 1905. I believe Jimbo did a book report on it that year for his 3rd grade English class.
