I read and loved "Dangerous River" by Patterson, so I decided to pick up this one next. Where "Dangerous River" was more of a glorified trip report of epic canoe travel, "Trail to the Interior" is more of a history read. The author writes about the history surrounding the Stikine River, from Wrangell, Alaska up into the NWT. He discusses the many groups (Russians, HB Co., natives) that were in the area, the various goldrushes, and significant people throughout its history. There are some good stories throughout the book, but the portions covering the author's own canoe trip were short. A good read for those interested in the history of the area.
