Going in on Saturday it was raining. I led with the 1 ton truck and canoe trailer, took it slow and it was simply water over the road, rough but passable. On the way back the van led and because of the rain the water was murky, ended up in a hole.
We forded it now problem but were left with the impression that it had deteriorated considerably in the two hours since we first passed.
Sunday we took another trip and the water was crystal clear and we could see where the hole was, but we still walked it first. I carry a good hiking stick and typically do walk the water over road occurrences before driving them if I am unable to see the bottom.
The more the park gets used the more likely the road is to be maintained. I have also proposed an idea to host a road rally race using the road to brings funds in to maintain the road. First week of May would be ideal. Lakes are frozen, no hunting, fishing is closed and for the most part no snow.....But this shot was May 15 last year, right after I decided to cancel my canoe trip (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

I noticed that while we were on the section where water ran over the road the 2 vehicles carrying us and our gear stayed together. Before crossing those places I would want to walk the lines that both wheels would follow. You could see some places where there were some big holes. MagicPaddler
