Fiskars is ok and a UL dream.  Not very fast/sharp.

Buck is a lot faster than the Fiskars, but very heavy for the size.

I got the folding model. I am surprised at how well the locking mechanism works. Really quite solid and that negates any additional sheathing.

How's your busy summer going?

MT -- glad you like the saw.  I had my wife make a sheath for mine, cuz I don't like the hokey plastic case. 

These saws also make great gifts!

These saws are beyond scary sharp, and very durable. Have them for the business...and very happy with them. and that does not come easy.

And yes!  They are sharp.  I happened to bounce the blade across one of my knuckles during my last trip.  It produced an uncomfortable gash.

In the new "hope and change" economy I have less work and consequently a bit more time to investigate new camping equipment. (not sure about the math on that but I digress). Many of the pros here at Quiet Journey have been directly responsible for my contributions to help keep the economy running as they keep mentioning gear that may be superior to what I presently own. Foul tempters, I was quite content with what I had.....Ignorance is bliss as they say.

Prouboy pointed me in the direction of the silky saws. A tough call as I liked my lightweight aluminum saw but, hey, it looked like a winner.....AND IT IS!!

The folding "Big Boy" silky saw is awesome. Handy and looks to be indestructible it's scary sharp. A few strokes and I'm through some mid sized branches and sensed that if you weren't careful a fellow could end up wearing the thing (and that would be bad....very bad) Time will tell how long it stays this sharp. I also like the width of the blade compared to my other saw....It is quite a bit wider and binds up much less.

Yea I know it's some dough. But man is it sweet. When I'm out there I like things to go smoothly.......saws that start binding up halfway through a cut are frustrating.

They also have one with extra large teeth. Not sure which one I have, it has a yellow handle, packs well BTW. Keep your fingers out of the way when you fold it up, (seriously)....not sure I would let kids or teens use it.
