Here is one we made for our kayaks. We used to bolt it through the combing with wing nuts, then realized the clamps would work and are much simpler. Depending on your kayak, C clamps might work also. In any event bring an extra clamp or bolt because they will go to the bottom if you flick one off into the water while setting up for the portage.

I made one similar to kstars. It seems to work pretty good but I have not used it extensively yet. On my solo kayak trip to Q 2 years ago I just rigged a clamp on canoe yoke. It worked but had a tendency to slip off at the worst times.
Anyone have any suggestions for a kayak portage yolk? We have an odd number for our spring trip, so my brother will be taking a kayak (first time we have tried that). The Spring Creek one looks nice, but is a bit spendy. Anyone use it? Any other alternatives out there? Thanks.
