The Author of this classic in mountaineering literature recently passed away a few weeks ago having made it into his 90's. The Frenchman Maurice Herzog (author) and his companions accomplished a truly remarkable climb in an age that lacked the modern advantages of what we have now. The first 8000 meter to be climbed, Annapurna is still considered a formidable and very dangerous mountain.

I have read the book at least twice and will probably read it a few more times. It was one of the books that hooked me on armchair mountaineering  Wink. Even if you have no interest in climbing this is a very good read...........
