I was torn between a steri pen and this gadget. I think I am happy with it after a 2 week trial. I know lots of folks just dip out of the lake but I know a few have paid a price. Anyways it was quick and conveinent and another option especially if you are in camp and just want a liter and want it like now.

It is not a filtration unit and in fact any sediment will interfere with proper results. It is also pricey but I see the price is already coming down. You also need a USB port to recharge but that is after 80 liters......mine still shows full charge after 2 weeks. Weight wise it is comparable to a steri pen. I liked the bottle, fits right into my holder that I wear on my batman belt. The head that does the work comes in its own pouch and that stores separately, a regular lid also comes with it.
