Yup....always better to be IN IT, than talking about it.  My buddy took this pic last year on Cirrus.  Can you feel the JOY?!

Love the quote, Puckster! We love exploring National Parks. So many wonderful memories out on the trail...

Yes, being out in it is the best experience there is

So true ST.

And I know this for certain, I always feel better when I'm outside.  And I plan to outlive the bastards.

Don't feel bad Puckster Grin
Your heart was in the right place.
One thing for sure, you could spend many lifetimes and still not see all the Wild Place's in the 50 States  Thumbs Upup

Actually, upon a little research I was wrong again.  I think Nevada has the most federal land in the lower 48.  Then I thought maybe I was thinking about national park land: wrong again.  California and Alaska, followed by Utah and Colorado?

No matter, Utah has GREAT country.  I'm going to stand down now.  Tongue

Yeah, for sure.  I think it's the lower 48 I was talking about.

More public land in Alaska than any state in US, but that's beside the point. Cool

Puckster--It's all about the timing. I'll be off exploring Canyonlands and Arches National Parks the last week in April, so I hope it doesn't conflict  Thumbs Upup

Sounds like fun!  It's always better to be outside than to be talking about it!  My favorite quote of Ed Abbey:

Quote:
“One final paragraph of advice: do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am - a reluctant enthusiast....a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it’s still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You will outlive the bastards.”

― Edward Abbey

My wife and I spent our honeymoon camping at Zion National Park.  Utah is a beautiful state.  More public land in Utah than any state in the US.

Rich,

Great to hear that your Alaska talk went well. You will have to give your Alaska talk at Copia next year.

See u in Madison in a few weeks.
