Is anyone thinking about attending this weekend at Midwest? I'm kind of on the fence with kids' basketball commitments but might be able to sneak away for an hour or two during the day. Just thought I'd ask if anyone else might be there for the presentations or just to wander around and window shop....

I just learned that the website is live with Fall Expo info. (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) .
I will be presenting 'Alaska DIY! Travel on the Cheap '. It will be packed with budget friendly suggestions for traveling to and around The Last Frontier. I have been traveling to Alaska on a regular basis since 2004. I look forward to seeing you there.
If you see me, stop to say 'hi'. I'll be the graybeard wearing an Alaska cap.
There is still time to figure out a dinner plan for any who would like to rendezvous. Please feel free to respond to one of the suggestions that have been posted or make another suggestion. It would be fun to do a meet 'n greet.

There's always (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links). I meet my flytying club there on Thursdays. Decent amount of room in the bar area with tables and TVs. Mounted fish on the walls for ambience . Some dining areas we could sort of take over -- I can call them or just talk to them next time I'm there if there's interest.

I don't know anything about this place. Never been there. It will be preferable to be somewhere that is not too loud to visit. Good food. My impression from the website is that it could be loud.

This might need to be a new thread to avoid date confusion. I will be there on Saturday, Nov 19, presenting "Alaska DIY: Travel on the Cheap ". Details are posted in the Alaska forum. It will be fun seeing Harlan again. I hope you will invite him, even if we're a small group.
I don't remember anything real close to MM. We have lots of QJERS in the metro area, so it would be fun to reconnect.

Anyone interested in a Twin Cities get-together during the Midwest Mountairing Fall shindig? Harlan will be presenting on his winter trips and I have word that a QJ-er or two more will also be presenting as well. If there is interest we could pick a place either in that area of town that is walkable (NOT the Viking Bar across the street ) or at least not too far away.
Post if you think you might be interested and might be in-town. If you have an eating establishment in mind please also suggest one.
Thanks everyone.

We had more quality than quantity last night. Jimbo and his son Ben showed up. Ben is quite an impressive young man and a world traveler and rock climber. He has good memories of Quetico. Jimbo and I got to catch up on some of the challenges and curves in life. We're both hopeful about Alaska in 2017. We're looking forward to connecting with other QJers at Copia.

I hope you guys (and gals?) have a great wing nite! I was just in Chicago for a family wedding last weekend and was thinking about a wing nite suggestion there - I know there' a pretty good QJ contingent in the area - but it was a quick trip in an little time for much else.
OS, sorry I don't get to see the presentation. I still need to catch up with you on that sometime.
