Word to the Wise 
I received my OutDoor Luci this morning while I was in the process of putting up a new Digital Outdoor antennae because I refuse to pay for cable 

I put the Luci out in sun as packaging shows, but thankfully I left in only about 1/2 inflated, which is NOT what the packaging on mine shows.

I checked on it after about 1 hour to see how it was doing and noticed the plastic "dome" was full, which triggered something I read in the reviews somewhere for the Luci.

Turns out someone had inflated it fully and left in sun to charge and the air expanded and split the seam. He fixed it with seam sealer, but I rather avoid that, so take that into consideration when you try it out the first time.

Other than that possible issue the light is really cool, with a low/high/strobe/off and charge indicator lights.

I took it into dark bedroom and it will be more than adequate especially under a tarp for cooking etc.

For those who go paddling in prime bug season, I think I would take a red/yellow ( amber) bandanna and make a shade for it so it doesn't bring in the mosquitoes ?

I have been using an original Luci for four or five years now.  When I bought mine it was close to $30 and they sent another to a third world county for use.  It has held up very well, but last year I developed on hole in it.  Put a little Gear Aid sealer on it and still going go so far.  When in the CCS lean, I hang it from the quad loop.  Luci got a big workout last year in May during the snow/sleet/rain day playing cribbage.  When I'm in the warbonnet blackbird, I hang it from ridge line on the tarp.  I have never had any issues with it running out of juice.  When I get to camp, blow it up and set it in the sun and it's ready to go.

I wish I could say I bought the light after exhaustive research on my part, but in reality my sister got it for me for Christmas a couple of years ago.  I thought it was a goofy idea and did not expect it to perform up to its claims.  I was clearly wrong.

You guys have "sold" me!  I never heard of them before.  I just contacted a backpacking friend of mine who (as I figured) owns one & loves it!  My new Luci Outdoor Light is on the way.

I just ordered the Outdoor model because it has the hanging straps top and bottom. With a discount code cost was just under $20.

Just in case you might be interested, Mpowerd has recently released a new version of their produced that is designated the (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) (for "emergency" I suppose).  The new version clocks in at about 1 inch smaller (height/diameter), making it somewhat easier to pack.  Its also a few $$ cheaper.  It also looks like Mpowerd has them on sale today for $10.

This is really one of the great products of all time.  I love that it was originally designed to meet third world needs - light where there is no electricity.  Every time we buy one we support the original intent.  My first two Luci lights were defective but they were replaced right away with no charge (excuse the pun.)

ANYTHING that doesn't need batteries or fuel and is light is a great option!

For $14 I was impressed.   Hung in the middle of the rigged tarp it gives just enough light to navigate around camp by.  Great in a tent too, and no throw away  batteries to run down.  Un-inflated it is about 4” in diameter, ¾” thick and weighs nothing.
I expected it to be fragile, but crammed into a Duluth pack with all the other gear it survived at least one 9 day trip.
