The schools of fish were suckers, long nose suckers is the best guess, a few smallies mixed in.. I've been on that lake many time, this was the first I'd seen them. The lake has only one small creek running into itm

The kid(see above post) is pretty comfortable fishing, he can out fish me now. He is still a little impatient and gets homesick pretty quick.

Nice video.  What were all the fish gathering underwater about? Were they smallies?  Has your son ever been to Quetico?  He looks real comfortable.

I'll start training for my 8/31 French Lake put in around July 4th weekend.  I'll start doing squats with a barbell, push ups etc. and then wearing a pack when I walk my dog.  I'll also go for two hour early morning paddles on local lakes on the weekends.  Two months of that stuff will have me ready. 12 weeks and counting.

Thanks Jimbo,
The kid is a neighbor. He has been begging me to take him to BW/Q since he was 7, he's 12 now. We are working up to it. He was so excited about the bass he caught, at 23.5" it qualifies for master angler recognition in Michigan. He thinks it is a state record, such are the dreams of young fishermen.

jimmar,

Between this video & the one with Solopaddler & his son over in the "Current Conditions & Trip Reports" forum, you guys are causing me to REALLY jump my son's case about getting me some grandchildren (to play with)!

What a cute kid!  Also, nice underwater shots and that sure was one long "V" of geese!

Thanks for sharing.

I'll be hitting Quetico in four weeks, myself.  Keep your eyes open for the QJ decal on your way out!
