I'm oft asked what it's like filleting a fish that large.  To me it's easy  as it's slightly smaller than most walleyes I catch  Wink

I finally caught up to the beast (when northerns get that big they actually loose their spots) after several days of camping out on the lake in sub zero weather.  I was a bit warmer than when I tripped with Jimbo and Magic in Q and my xped pad would not hold air.  Anyway, I knew the beast was out to seek revenge on Marten so I drew a line between the beasts last known location and Rockford.  That's where I laid my ambush.  I was alerted to its presence by a flash of something pink hanging out of its mouth and trailing fishing line sightly larger than the anchor rope on my power boat.  After I speared it I had to tie the rope from the spear off to the hitch on the Jeep to pull the beast out of the water.  I can now understand how the beast pulled Marten through those lakes and across the portages before it broke off.  (By the size of the line/rope Marten was using he must have cut it to prevent being dragged back into the states.  I didn't know that they made 64,000 lb. test Fireline).  It was a great battle but I finally prevailed.  Wondering if Marten can do a positive ID on the beast??
Tomorrow's POD will demonstrate that I am master of our domicile......if, and only if, the troll is not home Undecided

I need to apologize.  I posted here before I heard about DD.  This is no time for humor.

After several grueling days of tracking the beast down I finally caught up to it.  It was headed towards Rockford, Ill. as I suspected it would as I'm thinking that it wanted to take revenge on Marten.
Pics to follow.....I'm hoping Wink

I didn't take the rumor too seriously until someone mentioned something about what they thought was a pink daredevil hanging out of the beast's mouth.  The rest of the guys in the bar just started laughing hysterically at the poor guy......but I took heed!  The truth is out there......

There's a strong rumor going around here that one of Matren's giant fish that towed him across several lakes and a few portages in Canada (headed south I assume) was spotted nearby in east central WI.  I am currently in pursuit of the beast and will post a progress report in the near future.  If you don't hear from me in a week or so, you will know my fate.

With all the recent posts about aging, joint replacements, back fusions, etc it is apparent we all have tremendous respect for Wally13's fishing prowess, and his singularly obsessive pursuit of those elusive trophy walleye.  He's known to fish for hours and hours sometimes with only one arm, sore wrists, and probably a leg or two heavily wrapped in Ace bandages.  But have you heard of his really legendary talent?

Wally13 has been known to catch walleye from shore with no fishing gear at all, especially during full moonlight just after dusk.  You see, he is gifted with abnormally acute eyesight in the moonlight, like a big cat, and massive adrenaline surges.  He'll stalk the shallows along the shore, and when he sights his unsuspecting prey, he'll crouch low to the ground, fingers and hands twitching.  Then with unbelievable speed and agility, he'll leap high above the water, with full-throated growls like a grizzly, and pounce repeatedly, creating tremendous whitewater froth.  He'll leap 10 feet over and over chasing his prey, only stopping when he finally has in each fist a bloodied and healthy walleye, along with one or two more in his smiling jowls.

This is a true tale....I've seen it!!  Although, my eyes are not as good in the moonlight compared to Wally13....

I've heard those exact noises you described!  I always thought it was a grizzly bear, a coupe of wolverines, my wife the troll and a pack of wolves having a fierce battle in the water.  It was the most hideous and haunting noise I've ever experienced.  The next morning when I investigated the area where the noise came from I found all these mangled walleye remains around the area.  Finally, the truth has emerged as to the source.

So, what are ya'll saying?  Do you mean that Bigfoot is more Wally13 size?  I did notice the edge of what appeared to be some tricked-out "snowshoes" protruding from his pack early one morning.

PD,

Alligators vs. Northern Pike, not much difference, eh?

Still, when MN gets annexed by Canada, I'll come back.

Forgot to add....I also found the mangled carcasses of a grizzly bear, two wolverines and a several wolves.  I never did find out if she got all the wolves or not.
