Northern Wilds is a monthly magazine covering the North Shore from Duluth/Superior to Lake Nipigon. Also included is the Gunflint Trail and the BWCAW and Quetico. Their focus is on the many recreational opportunities in this area. I find it to be enjoyable reading. In the May issue, for example, is a good story about the Quetico pandemic in 1918-1920. It told the story of Chief Blackfoot as he snowshoed over 50 miles trying to get help for the Ojibwa village.

I have no connection with the magazine, but thought I would share it. I have a regular subscription to get it year around. It’s available for free at many North Shore restaurants, gas stations, etc. Pick up a free copy when you’re up north. Cool Wink
