Title: Iowa Paddling Post by CanoePam on Jan 31st, 2004 at 7:21pm
Nate Hoovegeen has just published a new book, "Paddling Iowa." I got my copy yesterday, and I would recommend it for anyone who wants to canoe or kayak in the state. It has information on 96 day trips, but many of those can be linked together for multi-day trips. There are ok maps, good descriptions, and even information on the best shuttle route. The picture on the front is a little misleading: it shows a guy in a white water kayak surfing a hole! There _is_ white water in Iowa, but not much! Published by Trails Books, ISBN 1-931599-33-5. List price 19.95. I got mine on B&N on-line at a significant discount.
Side note: It is interesting how many kayak pictures are in this book. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool canoeist, but I know that the recreational 'yak market is huge. Pam |
