I am curious what the advantage of a multi-tool is in canoe country?

I was kind of wondering the same thing about a machete or sheath knife.

I for one take the original leatherman. With a nice blade, pliers, screw driver etc. the multi-tool eliminates the need for "mutliple tools" to be brought along. Fits nicely along your belt and is always handy. I personally couldn't imagine finding a use for a big-bladed knif or machete, much less the desire to lug it around. Guess I am not really the Rambo type camper.
