Title: Can you Pack Krispy Kreme doughnuts?
Post by troutbreath on Apr 29th, 2004 at 1:18pm
OK,

This may not be what DB and Snowdog were after in a food section but, as one of my employees is bringing KK’s in today, it was the food I was thinking about.  Here is my question.  Suppose you wanted to have KK’s for breakfast on day two,  how would you pack them?

You think you could actually pack them and not pull them out to eat them before your destination, your a stronger man than me. Those would all be gone before I hit the water. They are like a drug. They hook you and then you want more.  ;D

I can see it now - paddling by a campsite early one cold, rainy morning . . . and the "hot" light is on.  That's what dreams are made of!

So you are saying that they need to be packed in a scent proof box with a locking lid???

Just toss em on the dehrydrator for a day and they'll be fine..it'll give a new definition to the word crispy also.

Or, you can vacuum seal them, but then they become Krispy Kreme pancakes.

It may be bearproof but I think I would be able to get through it even if you didn't give me a key or combo. Seriously if you try Entenmann's Star Puff's they are better than KK. and they stay good for 5 days compared to 12 hrs for KK. They aren't in every market yet, so you'd have to check the stores in your area. Not trying to put out an advertisement here. Just trying to help everyone get a little fatter.

If your like me and enjoy the KK here's an idea.  ;D
I know the smaller white powdered sugar doughnuts aren't the KK's but I have a no fault way to pack these babies.
Remove them from the package.
Very carefully slide them on the handle of your fishing pole. Then your all set even if its the middle of the afternoon and your out on the water wetting your line.
Now even better if your not a fisherman.  Just heads to your local hardware store and get you a 1/4 inch dowel rod.  I'd guess maybe 6 or 7 doz. of them could be put on the dowel.  Just depends on how long the rod case it.
By the way let me know where your camping at I'll stop in for breakfast ;).

If I liked then enough to take them I'd pack then the same as I do DORITOS® Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips. Top of the food pack in their original packaging.

Not sure how they'd work as Walleye breading on day 10 though...

I vacuum sealed two packs of smokes once. Big mistake. My wife bought me a bag of FRITOS® Original Corn Chips just recently. The bag says they have 3 ingredients - corn, salt and corn oil.

Who knows?

I knew a guy who would ball up 12 hot KK's in his hands and eat it like an apple.  That's how I would probably do it.

In all seriousness...I pack crumble-able goodies in recycled stiff plastic like a pringles tube or wide mouth jar (Miracle Whip or trail mix container, etc.) Burn the empty container or carry it, using it for other small items or food leftovers.
I once taped the corn chip bags into the very pointy end of my kayak, carried them that way until I wanted them (portages and all...they don't weigh anything) and they remained in great condition.
