Are you looking to canoe & camp on the northern end of the Kickapoo, say near Ontario or LaFarge?  There are other campgrounds farther down the river (Readstown, Soldiers Grove, Gays Mills) if you'll be in that area.

Bannock's information has the northern end nailed.  It's clearly the more popular stretch.  And as Kingfisher said, Wildcat Mountain is a nice State Park.  

(A quick check of reservable sites at Wildcat Mountain showed there are no reservable campsites available.  If you get there early on Friday (i.e. before noon), you may have a shot at one of the non-reservable sites).
