Title: Astrid / Jeanette Lake CG Post by PhantomJug on Aug 24th, 2004 at 10:55pm
Anyone been there - located off 200 off the echo trail east of Buyck / NW of Ely. Thinking of weekend getaway away from the usual spots. Any comments or experience?

I was at the Jeanette Lake CG about 35 years ago. It was ok then, nothing special, maybe that's why I never went back, not sure. :-/ ???

In my very sage and not so humple opinion, Jeanette Lake campground is one of the finest in that area. As soon as hunting season starts, useage increases, and sites can become full of campers that got there before you. As I recall, the trail to Maude dead ends at the lake, but on the other side of the road, I've hiked the trail to Astrid and beyond. If you can locate the trail into Lake Crellin, Take it. A nice secluded spot to rest. If you cannot find the trail, brushcrush and go anyway, tis not that far. Beyond Crelin trail cutoff, the trail continues to Nigh or Pauline, although useage seems to lessen beyond that point. Not a bad hike if you can get dropped off at one end and picked up at the other. I most likely will be hiking that trail soon, with dog and shotgun. Please do not share this information with anyone else, as it is for your eyes only. If some fellow known as "NibiMocks" gets wind of this hiking trail, it will become a destination of his, and he'll shoot the place up! Won't be any good photo matter left for anyone else. Shhhhh, mums the word.
