100+

Do you have the gear or use an outfitterer?
Have the gear

Preferred/Typical party size?
4-6

What length of trips do you do/available to do?
4-7 days, but have done longer when possible

Preferred season?
Spring

What % of the trip do you travel/base camp?
2 rest days for every night in a campsite

What difficulty level do you go for?
Bust butt the first day to get to solitude and relax for several day before taking it easy on the way out.

What area of the park are you most familiar with?
Have been to most of it, but am most comfortable in the area surrounding the Ely EPs.

Paddling
Bow or stern preference?
Stern

What is your paddling rhythm?
depends on the wind. Calm water = realxed paddling. Rough water = hard paddling

Paddle the shoreline or beeline?
Beeline on day 1, shoreline the rest of the time.

How nasty of water are you comfortable paddling in?
As long as the waves aren't coming over the bow, I am comfortable.

Do you have strong navigation/map skills?
I think they are strong, others may not.


Portaging
Do you usually single/double/triple portage?
Always single.

Do you carry everything on your back, or alot of hand carry?   Only hand carry fishing poles.

How well do you handle the mountain goat portages?
Been over many and they are still no fun (especially when they're wet)

How well do you handle the boot sucking bogs?
Don't like them, but will do them.


Camping Style
Would you rather cook or wash the dishes?
Cook.

Fresh or dried foods?
Fresh

Cook over a fire, or over a stove?
Stove, except for the 1st night steaks

Cook breakfast or breakfast bars?
Breakfast Bars

How many fish meals do you like to have during a trip?
1-2

Hang the food pack or ground it?
Hang 'em high.

Axe? Saw? Both?
Saw and hatchet

Sit around campfire all night OR wake at crack of dawn? (or both)
Both, I can't enjoy the beauty if I'm sleeping.

On a travel day, what time do you like to hit the water?
8:00 - 9:00


Fishing
How much time do you like to spend fishing?
As much as possible.

Which species do you like to go after?
Walleye

How much tackle to you bring?
One plastic tray

Are you good with a fillet knife?
So far so good, no injuries

Do you have any medical conditions to be considered?
NO

Level of alcohol consumption?
Moderate.

Are you a smoker?
No

Is photography high on your list?
If the opportunity arises, always have my camera ready.

Do you like to go after pictographs?
Won't go out of my way, but will stop and look if we pass by them (I won't do any repelling near them though)

Do you like to go after waterfalls?
Absolutely (good fishing).

Do you like to go after the northern lights?
If I'm up late

Personality
If the bugs are bad, will it ruin the trip for you?
I dont like them, but they're part of the experiance.

What weather conditions are difficult for you to deal with?
Wind, it's the only thing you can't guard against.

If we've got a problem, would you rather discuss it or bury it?
Discuss it.

Other than illness or injury what events or conditions would make you want to quit a trip early and head home?
I think running out of food would be the only circumstance.
