Approximate number of previous nights spent canoe camping? 40
Do you have the gear or use an outfitters?  Have the gear

Paddling
Bow or stern preference? I'm usually the bow guy, but I'm usually with novice students.
What is your paddling rhythm? Sing or whistle (lol).  I'm flexible.
Paddle the shoreline or beeline? depends on the weather but paddling the shore line is nice for the views
How nasty of water are you comfortable paddling in? Small white caps are the limit for me
Do you have strong navigation/map skills? I rely on a map and compass. I'm a Wilderness leader at school and have completed Outward Bound Instructor's Course.  However, I can't use the sky as the Indians taught Heimo Korth.

Portaging
Do you usually single/double/triple/or? portage? doubles, but again, it depends on who I'm with.  I usually pack a little too much.
Do you carry everything on your back, or alot of hand carry? both
How well do you handle the mountain goat portages? slow and steady wins the race.
How well do you handle the boot sucking bogs? I try to avoid them.

Camping Style
Would you rather cook or wash the dishes? cook
Fresh or dried foods? fresh, preferably fish, but the dried stuff is easy and can be a help in a storm
Cook over a fire, or over a stove? stove
Cook breakfast or breakfast bars? instant oatmeal, bacon, pancakes, or on the really quick mornings granola/milk
How many fish meals do you like to have during a trip? as many as possible
Hang the food pack or ground it? hang
Axe? Saw? Both? saw
Sit around campfire all night OR wake at crack of dawn? Campfires are fun & I love getting up early to fish!  Both and not much sleep!
On a travel day, what time do you like to hit the water? early as possible, right at dawn

Fishing
How much time do you like to spend fishing? a bunch - my favorite activity on trips
Which species do you like to go after? walleyes, smallies, northern
How much tackle to you bring? 2 spinning rods, 1 fly rod, one small tackle box with plenty of rapalas and rattletraps
Are you good with a fillet knife? eh, I'm OK, I've learned to filet the northern pretty well

Misc
Do you have any medical conditions to be considered? yes, I'm a fishoholic!
Level of alcohol consumption? none on trips so far, but I do drink beer at home
Are you a smoker? no
Is photography high on your list? yes, the digital stuff is fantastic
Do you like to go after pictographs? yes
Do you like to go after waterfalls? yes
Do you like to go after the northern lights? yes

Personality
If the bugs are bad, will it ruin the trip for you? no
What weather conditions are difficult for you to deal with? multiple days of wind
If we've got a problem, would you rather discuss it or bury it? discuss it I guess - as a leader with students, very necessary
Other than illness or injury what events or conditions would make you want to quit a trip early and head home? last summer I was bluff-charged by a large black bear on my first solo - I paddled out that night - will do another solo this coming summer - I imagine losing food could cut it short
