Title: Rockcastle River KY

Those of you that are southern'ers or wishing to make a trip, and are in the KY, TN, NC area and would be interested in a fall paddle on the Rockcastle River near London KY.  drop me an IM or emial.  Were in the planning stages and trying to pic a weekend in late Sept or Oct for a weekend paddle. The Rockcastle offers both fast and slow water trips.  Depending on if you paddle the upper or lowers sections.  I'm told it is very nice area which flows thru the Daniel Boone National Forest.

My wife and I were down that way in June. We paddled around near Bee Rock Campground and explored the narrows area. My wife executed long distance releases on two gar pike and I caught a nice catfish. I would recommend that you camp at a monitored site like Laurel river lake campground as we had some bad experiences with the unmonitored campgrounds maintained by the USFS. Late night drinkers with loud music. >:( Also be prepared to see copius litter. I don't know why litter is such a problem but evidence of man's disregard for nature is everywhere.
Just a few issues I thought you might want to be made aware of while still in the planning stages. Don't let it discourage you from visiting this beautiful area. Be sure to hike up to Bee Rock proper near the campground. Cool cave-like area and great view from the top of the ridge.
Have fun!
