Title: Recipe page update? Post by lotalota on May 21st, 2006 at 3:00pm
How often is the recipe page udpated? I submitted the best ever fish fry batter about a month ago, but it hasn't made the page yet.

My apologies. Traditionally, things get updated periodically, basically when there is enough to do things efficiently. I believe I normally strive to update most everything prior to my annual spring trip but despite my best plans and intentions this year... nothing's been updated recently and I'm still sitting here with a mouse, instead of a paddle, in my hand - probably the first season in 20 years. (Whaaaaaa!)
As I recall, SD waited patiently perhaps close to a year for his suggested improvements to the recipe area to be implemented so please remember this is not a (for profit) paying job and I do the best I can. It's an all volunteer thing and even moderators have put in some unexpected overtime recently. lotalota - It will get up eventually but feel free to post it here for the time being if you want. Anyone else(?), ...stories etc., will get there eventually and thank you for your patience too as it seems instant gratification is a really bad idea 'round here these days. Yadda yadda - lotalota and anyone else, seriously, just post it here. Depending on the resources available to QJ's share of this server it will be up in anywhere from a few seconds to, unfortunately, a few minutes. (these days...) |

No big deal, I'm not upset nor do I need immediate gratification. I didn't know it was done manually (though I guess I could have figured that) so I was wondering if something was wrong.
Here it is. Once you try it you're unlikely to ever use another: Knife Lake Pete's Fish Fry 1.5 cups cornmeal (small grain if possible) 1 heaping tablespoon of paprika 1 level tablespoon of black pepper 1 level tablespoon of garlic powder 1 teaspoon of salt 1. Mix the above and bring it with you. 2. Catch fish (walleye or trout, preferably) 3. Drip dry the fillets so they aren't soaking wet 4. Roll them in the batter 5. Fry in butter flavored Crisco over a hot fire This was the recipe used by a fellow named Pete who lived on Knife Lake for many years. It is fantastic. |
