Title: Nopiming Prov. Park Manitoba
Post by C-Dub on Jul 23rd, 2006 at 12:47am
Just got back from a fishing trip to Nopiming in Eastern Manitoba.  This was not a canoeing trip or a wilderness trip.  Nopiming has roads and a lot of cabins inside of it.  There are some nice canoe routes in there around the heavily used areas though.  We stayed in a nice fishing lodge in the park.

One day we had great smallmouth fishing in Tooth Lake.  One day we had pretty good walleye fishing in Gem Lake.  The other days we had just decent fishing for walleye on Long Lake.

On Wednesday Manitoba's MNR issued a backcountry travel ban due to the threat of wildfires.  Otherwise we would have been back on Tooth Lake again.  It is very dry there right now and we had a ton of lightning one night.  Pretty risky place right now.  A lot of the areas we were in had burned in a series of large fires in the 80s.

Overall an intersting place, I'll probably return to fish there again with friends who do not camp.
