Title: Youghiogheny River, Pa (report)
Post by Mk631 on Aug 24th, 2006 at 9:05pm
We did a family camping/rafting trip here a few weeks ago.   Rafting was OK (we did the smoother section because of small kids with us).  The class 3/4 section of this river makes me want to take up whitewater kayaking -- watched people having fun doing this -- beautiful area & a great time for all.  Not a place for solitude -- it's packed with people.

Fishing was pretty good for the small amount of time invested into a new area.  Caught 2 nice smallies on jig/worm in the Yough in fast moving water.  Tried for trout in small streams where no live bait was allowed & had no luck.  Saw nice sized trout though.  My son figured out how to catch them.  The one in the picture he jumped in & got by hand! (no wonder he always outfishes me...)
