A couple of years ago one of the guys in our group was resting.  He asked from inside the tent if we had any apples left, we had a few granny smith (tart).   He asked me to cut one up and fry it in a little butter.  I humored him.  He then asked if we had any cinnamon granola bars, we did.  Crumble them up and fry them too he said.  I added a little more butter and fried them too.  We had a great fresh apple crisp sitting by the fire in the BW, if only there was a good ice cream substitute.
