Just finished reading the book.  It really was an excellent read!  Once the expedition hit the river it was impossible to put it down.

If part of what you enjoy about a canoe trip is the challenge of the unknown, you need to read this book.

FWIW, those who think Obama would do well to imitate FDR are barking up the wrong Roosevelt.
