Title: Re: Flashing Oven Post by solotripper on Jan 9th, 2007 at 11:19pm
I would be happy if it turned out to be a violable alternative to other qjers who don't have a oven or don't like using a reflector oven?
I have to add a warning about my choice of galvanized wire for rack!! I owe the heads up to Screamingwindigo, who brought it to my attention that galvanized metal gives off toxic fumes when welded or super heated!! I knew this because I used to weld quite a bit when I worked construction but I forgot not everyone would know this?? I pre-heated oven on kitchen stove(no wife to irritate)and ran range hood to vent fumes. After about 20 minuted smell was gone and I made a test batch of cookies. I believe the galvanized coating on the wire was eliminated but will keep a wary eye in-case I'm wrong about it?? It would be no problem to use aluminum rod or even the original threaded rod if you wished. I went with what I had handy, so be aware of the potential hazard with using that wire? |
