The Superior North Shore, A Natural History of Lake Superior's Northern Lands and Waters. By Thomas Waters.
This book is a great resource of historical fact. It VERY meticulously disects and reassembles an incredibly detailed account of Lake Superiors waters and shoreline from Duluth to Sault St Marie. The Author writes about the Geology, bird migration, general eccology, disease, indigineous peoples, comercial fishing, forestry and Park lands. The volume of data at times is as equally tiring as it is facinating.
I especially enjoyed the bits on the lake Nipigon Basin, Isle Royale and Michipicoten island.
I recomend it to any one who frequents the area. I find it rewarding to know a little bit more about where I am when I'm up there.
Also. Like the drive, paddle, and the portage. This book is a journey to finish.
